Introduction
The Panchajanyam Film Society was started in 2005 in order to promote good films and a film culture in Chittur and neighbouring areas. The society first started off by screening one-off films and expanded its activities by launching the Panchajanyam International Film Festival in 2008. PIFF is now an annual event and is held in January.
PIFF
PIFF-I was held from Jan 9-16, 2008 at the Chitranjali Theatre, Chittur. The festival was inaugurated by Mr. KP Kumaran and a total of 27 feature films, 7 short films and 7 documentaries were screened.
PIFF-II was held from Jan 9-16, 2009 at the Chitranjali Theatre, Chittur. The festival was inaugurated by Mr. MG Sasi and a total of 27 feature films, 10 short films and 7 documentaries were screened.
PIFF-III was held from Jan 22-28, 2010 at the Chitranjali Theatre, Chittur. the festival was inaugurated by Mr. Girish Kasaravalli and there were a total of 49 screenings. The festival was conducted at two venues this time to accommodate specific streams.
PIFF-IV will be held from Jan 21-27, 2011 at the Chitranjali Theatre, Chittur. The schedule of screenings and other details will be announced shortly.
